Dying assistance


BMJ editor Fiona Godlee is backing a call for leading UK medical bodies to stop opposing assisted dying for terminally ill, mentally competent adults. She says that the inevitable consequence of the societal move towards greater individual autonomy and patient choice means that this is a decision society should make, not doctors.
